T. F. Green Airport Rhode Island
T. F. Green Airport (Theodore Francis Green State Airport) is the main public airport in Rhode Island. It is the largest and most active airport among the six airports available in the state. At the present time, it is flying out aircraft from 10 of America’s largest airlines which offer flights from all over the U.S. and Canada.
Everything you need while waiting for your flight is available here. You can eat, shop or just sit and relax while you wait for your flight. There are tons of new shops and restaurants strung along the concourses, so finding something interesting to do isn’t that difficult. Each of the concourses is also equipped with a full-service newsstand and even has a gaming area for the kids.
The best places to eat within the airport are:
- The Federal Tavern – This is a full-service restaurant serving local seafood, pasta dishes, and choice alcohol.
- Block Island Bar and Cafe – This café/bar offers a bar, cafe, and newsstand.
The layover times seem to be around 1 hour which isn’t that bad really. Southwest does offer 9 direct flights into Providence, three of them coming from Florida. When arranging your travel plans to Providence, make sure the first number you call is for Southwest Airlines. Tito’s Cantina- This is another café featuring Mexican foods and includes a bar in the center. TGI Fridays- This restaurant is always an airport favorite featuring items from their famous menu, including appetizers, sandwiches and fast foods to eat in or carry out.
For those persons in business that can’t wait to get to their hotel or forgot some last-minute details before leaving; the airport has a business center and a meeting room available on the 2nd floor. The room is available for rental and can accommodate from eight to ten people. The Briefing Center room is located there as well and can hold up to 20 people as well. Both conference rooms are outfitted with a full array of services including speakerphone, power outlets, and private copy/fax.
The best part of this airport would have to be the massages that are available pre and post-flight. This is a rare treat and greatly appreciated by most of the travelers passing through. There are several spots located throughout the terminal, but most of them are located near the security checkpoints. There are several ATMs located throughout the terminal building for your convenience. Wireless Internet access is also available in all public areas of the airport before you pass into the airline waiting areas. There is a charge for these services, so it’s a good idea to check on that before logging into the service.
