Carrington City North Dakota
Carrington, a city located in Foster County, North Dakota. Founded in 1883, Carrington is also home to the Dakota Growers Pasta Company Inc. Carrington is in the Drift Prairie Region of North Dakota.
The City sits 1,585 feet above sea level. There are many fields of small grains, beans, sunflowers and pastures where they raise the cattle and buffalo. There are three schools located here, Carrington Elementary School, Carrington High School, and the Prairie View Adventist School. As of the 2000 census, Carrington’s population is at 2,268. Midcontinent Communications provides cable service to the city of Carrington and New Rockford. Dakota Central Telecommunications provides cable service to Carrington, Jamestown, and other nearby communities. Central Dakota TV provides cable service to other nearby communities.
Also located in Carrington City is the Carrington City library. A public library is a central facility for the library system that serves Carrington. The library director as of date is Lenore Franchuk. Shopping in Carrington is easy because a lot of the shops are located Main Street. These shops sell anything from antiques to flowers. Carrington also has many attractions which include The McHenry Railroad loop, the Putnam House, the Camp Kimball State Historical Park, the Foster County Museum, the Hawks Nest Ridge, Pipestem Creek. The city also offers special tours such as the Birding Drives. People who like golf would also be happy to know that the city has a championship golf course with a driving range and a four-mil asphalt trail.
Festivals to look forward to when visiting Carrington include the annual Roughrider Rodeo which is held each June, the annual portholes and prairie birding festival which is held in June as well, the annual “Pastafest” which is held every August and the Foster County fair which is also held annually in Foster County.
Carrington is considered to be the leader in North Dakota’s agricultural business mainly because the Dakota Growers Pasta Company is based there. With the continuous growth of the company, so does Carrington’s economy. It is also been said the Carrington is one of the best places to live a stress-free life in.
